Early Monday morning, Donald Trump launched on a tweetstorm bashing Meryl Streep as “over-rated” and a “Hillary flunky” and insisted he did not mock a disabled reporter.
However, in the caught-on-tape moment, Trump definitely appears to be mocking journalist Serge Kovaleski, who has a condition that limits movement in his joints.
Back at a South Carolina rally in November 2015, Trump said this about the investigative reporter: “Now, the poor guy, you ought to see this guy, ‘Ah, I don’t know what I said, I don’t remember, I don’t remember, maybe that’s what I said.’”
To make his point, he also jerked his arms in imitation of Kovaleski’s right arm.
Kovaleski said at the time he was not the least bit surprised that “that Donald Trump would do something this low-rent, given his track record.”
Trump spokesperson Hope Hicks, however, responded to the incident by Trump saying was “not aware of any condition and was not mocking his physical appearance in any way.”
Kovaleski says he knows that is not true and he sure Trump remembered him.
Here is the footage from the rally:
