Steve Bannon, the new alt-right chief strategist to the president and former editor of Breitbart, doesn’t exactly have a fondness for the press. Unsurprisingly, no real journalist is all that enamored of Bannon, either.
However, no one could have expected that Bannon would make verbal attacks on the press a casual part of his workday. As reporters waited outside of White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer’s office on Wednesday – which is part of their job – Bannon flippantly insulted them all as he walked by with Reince Priebus in tow.
The opposition party, all lined up!’
Legitimate reporters, people who have worked in political news media for years, were stunned. They immediately took to Twitter to inform the public.

This isn’t the first time Bannon has gone out of his way to insult journalists. During a phone interview with The New York Times last month, Bannon said:
‘The media should be embarrassed and humiliated and keep its mouth shut and just listen for a while. I want you to quote this. The media here is the opposition party. They don’t understand this country. They still do not understand why Donald Trump is the president of the United States.’
You read that correctly. The man whose biggest claim to fame is running a “news” website that reported “news” about how birth control makes women ugly and said that women upset by online harassment should just “log off” the internet then said that reporters from CNN, The New York Times, and NBC News should be “embarrassed.”
After Trump’s vicious attack on the media during Thursday’s press conference, is anyone really still buying the idea that Bannon isn’t influencing our president?
